• Otherwise known as exploration/explotation problem. The question can be rephrased as "when will you know to switch from one mode to the other?" — helia
• constant around zero, unless the constraint is external as work, study, or family related. — helia
• If left up to nature, like a happy dog, I would probably chase my own tail till I catch an interesting scent and follow that till someone came along to play. You know, the "Feel good" stuff. Only when I would get hungry, sleepy, etc. would I do the "has to be achieved". But we do not live in a natural world, we have jobs and consistent "has to be achieved" needs to be met. So as it is not my nature, I over compensate the "has to be achieved", not always efficiently but hence the need for over compensation. Not healthiest, I know. — onlyname
